CADGWITH COVE

View over Cadgwith from footpath

Attractions:-

Cadgwith is an unspoilt  traditional Cornish fishing village with a working fleet of boats. You can still watch the fishermen bring in the daily catch to sell to the local pubs, restaurants and the public.

In the village there is a craft shop, a restaurant and an inn with regular live music.

From the cove you can follow the coastal footpath south past The Devils Frying pan and on towards the Lizard which is about a three mile walk. If however you decide to head north you pass the old serpentine works at Poltesco.  After approximately a mile and a half walk you come to the superb sandy beaches of Kennack Sands www.walkingbritain.co.uk

One of the main landmarks of the Lizard Peninsula are the Goonhilly Earth Station satellite dishes. www.goonhilly.bt.com

On the outskirts of Helston is Flambards Theme Park with rides and activities www.flambards.co.uk .

Cornwall is famous for its superb sub tropical gardens many of which are run by the National Trust www.nationaltrust.org.uk   North of the Helford river and estuary you can find the magical Glendurgan and Trebah gardens both of which are in valleys that run down to the sea. Further afield are the Lost gardens of Heligan www.heligan.com  and the now world famous Eden project www.edenproject.com and www.gardensincornwall.co.uk

For those that love the water the Helford Estuary offers some of the best sailing and boating in the country. There are many organised trips, such as Whale watching from Falmouth or just sight seeing. You can hire your own boat from many of the local harbours.

If the children would like to learn to sail  there are several local sailing schools  that run weekly courses. www.mylorsailingschool.co.uk   or The Helford River Children's Sailing Trust  www.hrcst.org.uk
